Our Company

Science, Carried Through

We are an innovative biopharmaceutical company advancing therapies to treat the mitochondrial dysfunction associated with rare genetic mitochondrial diseases and many common age-related diseases. Our mission is to pioneer a new class of medicines that directly target mitochondrial dysfunction, improving quality of life for individuals who have long faced limited options. We apply deep biological understanding and development expertise to advance meaningful therapies – and we have the tenacity to overcome challenges along the way in partnership with those impacted by these devastating diseases.

A note from our CEO

Reenie McCarthy

At Mighty Therapeutics, our work is personal. We believe strongly in the potential of our science to deliver new treatment solutions and improve quality of life for patients with diseases involving mitochondrial dysfunction—many of which are debilitating and life-threatening and have no FDA-approved treatment options.

In 2025, we delivered the first-ever mitochondria-targeted medicine and the first therapy for Barth syndrome, a devastating ultra-rare mitochondrial disease. The journey to approval was long, but the Mighty team and the Barth syndrome community refused to give up. Our experience in Barth syndrome demonstrates our persistence, collaboration, and deep commitment to incorporating the patient community’s voices throughout all stages of drug development. That ethos continues to drive us post-approval as we gain momentum in changing the treatment paradigm for this disease.

That approach also shapes our work across our entire pipeline. Our team works closely with patients and healthcare professionals to achieve our mission of developing therapies for rare and common age-related diseases involving mitochondrial dysfunction. We collaborate closely with patient advocacy to understand how these diseases impact the daily lives of patients and to better inform our clinical development efforts. We also partner with leading institutions, physicians, and scientists to develop our mitochondrial therapies.

As we continue to advance our programs in rare genetic diseases, ophthalmic disorders, and neurological conditions, our hope is to improve the prognosis and quality of life for patients and families whose lives are touched by mitochondrial disease.

Every day, we are inspired by the strength, resilience, and determination of the patients and families we serve. They are Mighty, and their stories continue to fuel our urgency, purpose, and commitment to changing what is possible in mitochondrial medicine.
